Did you know…

In the 1850’s, Isaac M. Singer was in the business of making sewing machines. He had a brilliant product but lacked capital for mass production. He devised a business model in which he sold licensing fees to people that wanted to sell the machines and teach others how to use them. Thus, the oldest franchise in the US was born, and others soon followed.

Albert Singer is widely considered the father of the modern-day franchise model, particularly in the United States. Singer is credited with being the first to develop a franchise contract in the mid-1800’s in order to help him distribute his sewing machines across the country.

This sewing machine is now an iconic symbol. A still a household name 150 years later.

Have you seen one of these stunning machines around anywhere recently?
