Burger King is a fast-food restaurant chain that was founded in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1953 by Matthew Burns and Keith Framer, as InstaBurger King. When the business ran into trouble in 1954 it was purchased by James McLamore and David Edgerton and renamed Burger King. The Whopper, which is one of the restaurant’s most famous food items, was introduced in 1957. Burger King has approximately 15,738 restaurants in 100 different countries, but almost half the locations are in the United States. In 2015 Burger King’s revenue was reported $4.05 billion. The main products sold by Burger King include burgers, chicken, French fries, pop, salads, desserts, and hot dogs.

  • In Australia Burger King isn’t called Burger King – it’s called Hungry Jacks because another company had the right to the name Burger King in Australia.
  • The Suicide Burger is 800 calories. It contains 175 mg of cholesterol and almost 2,500 mg of sodium. This item is on the ‘secret menu’ and contains four burger patties, four cheese slices, bacon, and special sauce.
  • The Burger King Crown Card entitles bearers to unlimited fries and burgers. Some of the celebrities known to have the gold card include George Lucas, Jay Leno, Jennifer Hudson, and Robert Downey Jr.
  • Burger King started serving hot dogs when it first opened.
